Gwenevre Saint
Bernards is a small hobby kennel, ran from our lovely GameFarm in
the most Northen part of South Africa, in the province of Limpopo.
The farm is about 12 km's fromt he Botswana border, and the mighty
Limpopo river. The farm borders the Magalakwena river, and boast
the Madiapala mountains. See our website: http://rietfonteinplaas.co.za
I'm breeding Saints
Bernards for the last 15 years, and mostly have a litter just every
second year, breeding bitches only every second season, and only
to better each generation from the previous one. Orgininally the
kennel was in Pretoria, but after I got married I had to move to
the farm. With that came the opportunaty to expand, due to lots
of space and now available time.
Currently we only
have a couple of Saints due to the loss of 4 Saints in the previous
year, but that also marks the 're-make' of the kennel. I'm in the
process of sourcing the best lines possiple from europe and bring
in the best dogs possible, to build the 'new' kennel from.
Previously Gwenevre
didn't have a stud at the kennels, but that reasontly changed with
the purchase of Bernegaårdens Grand Master from Norway. This
was a 15 year dream come true.
Grand Master is
co-owned by Gwenevre (where he currently lives) and Sonveld kennels
in Pretoria.
Gwenevre is the
only one of two accredited Saint Bernard breeders currently in S.A,
and that means good business practice. All puppies comes with contracts,
and certain guarantees. As far as possible dogs will be tested for
hip and elbow scores and other genetic diseases.
Puppies are not
raised in a kennel environment, but as part of the family, and aptitude
tests are done on 7 weeks to insure the puppies are placed in the
correct type of home.
